M A R C E L A + G A R A
I grew up traveling and had my first passport by the time I was 6 months old. My family spent a great deal of time living in Latin America and as a result, I have a strong affinity for this region. This passion for exploring new places, living abroad, and visual media led me to pursue a Master's at The New School in International Affairs and Media in 2011. There, I was able to enhance my knowledge of how to connect new media with social messaging and marketing within an international context.
I work with digital and film photography as a creative outlet for personal and professional purposes and primarily work with a Canon DSLR. I was awarded an emerging photographer's scholarship with the Photographic Center Northwest (PCNW) and hope to continue enhancing my craft. I have also spent a great deal of time working with video and enjoy exploring how film can be used as a means to enhance advocacy as well as tell personal narratives for visual campaigns.
I am available for creative assignments in photography, video, marketing, advocacy, and international development consultancy.
